Budget Cuts Likely for District

In a recent interview, Houston ISD Superintendent Millard House II outlined his five-year strategic plan for the district. The plan focuses on four key areas: student achievement, equity, innovation, and accountability. House said that he wants to make sure that every student in HISD has the opportunity to succeed.

However, House also acknowledged that the district is facing some financial challenges. He said that budget cuts are likely in the future. The district is currently facing a $114 million deficit. House said that he is working with the school board to develop a plan to address the deficit.

The district's financial challenges are not unique. Many school districts across the country are facing similar challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic has put a strain on school budgets. In addition, the rising cost of healthcare and other expenses is putting pressure on school budgets.

Despite the financial challenges, House said that he is optimistic about the future of HISD. He said that he believes that the district can overcome its challenges and continue to provide a high-quality education for all students.
