Phillies Get Positive News on Ranger Suárez

After taking a line drive off his throwing hand, Ranger Suárez underwent X-rays that came back negative.

The Philadelphia Phillies got some good news on Saturday night when X-rays on left-hander Ranger Suárez's hand came back negative.

Suárez was hit by a comebacker in the second inning of the Phillies' game against the St. Louis Cardinals and left the game. He was replaced by reliever Nick Nelson.

The Phillies announced after the game that Suárez had suffered a contusion and that he would be re-evaluated on Sunday.

Suárez is 5-5 with a 4.06 ERA in 12 starts this season. He has struck out 58 batters in 59 innings pitched.

The Phillies are hoping that Suárez will be able to make his next scheduled start on Wednesday against the Washington Nationals.
