Darren Waller Retires from NFL

Former Giants Tight End Calls it a Career

Former New York Giants tight end Darren Waller announced his retirement from football on Sunday, saying he found a lot of joy in the sport but was ready to move on to the next chapter in his life. Waller, 29, spent nine seasons in the NFL, playing for the Baltimore Ravens, Oakland Raiders, and Las Vegas Raiders.

Waller was a key part of the Raiders' offense in recent years, catching 242 passes for 2,983 yards and 23 touchdowns in four seasons with the team. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2020 and 2021.

Waller's retirement comes as a surprise, as he is still in the prime of his career. However, he said he is confident in his decision and is looking forward to what the future holds.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to have played in the NFL," Waller said in a statement. "It's been an incredible journey, and I've made some lifelong memories. I'm excited to see what the future holds for me."
