Delta Air Lines Makes Network Changes at New York Hubs
New Nonstop Routes and Suspensions
Delta Air Lines is making several noteworthy network changes at its New York hubs, including the elimination of its shortest route, the launch of three new nonstop routes out of New York City, and the suspension of seven routes from its overall network.
Scrapping the Shortest Route
The airline is scrapping its shortest route, a 23-mile hop between New York City's LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and White Plains Airport (HPN). This route will be discontinued effective September 6, 2023.
Adding New Nonstop Routes
New York City will be getting three new nonstop routes thanks to Delta's latest schedule adjustment. These new routes include: * Service from LGA to Charlottesville, Virginia (CHO), starting October 5, 2023 * Service from LGA to Madison, Wisconsin (MSN), starting November 2, 2023 * Service from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Belfast, Northern Ireland (BFS), starting April 28, 2024
Network Suspensions
The latest cuts come from Delta, which is pulling seven routes and dropping three cities from its network. The pull-down is largely focused on the airline's hub at LaGuardia Airport, where it is suspending service to: * Jackson Hole, Wyoming (JAC) * Louisville, Kentucky (SDF) * Richmond, Virginia (RIC) These changes are part of Delta's ongoing network optimization efforts, which aim to improve operational efficiency and align capacity with demand.
