**Josef Newgarden finishes third at Music City Grand Prix**

Josef Newgarden snatched his first NTT INDYCAR SERIES podium finish at the Music City Grand Prix, taking third in a thrilling race through the streets of Nashville.

Newgarden, who is third in the championship standings, crossed the line 0.8 секунды behind winner Scott Dixon. It was the New Zealander's second-straight victory and was the four-time series champion's fifth Music City GP triumph. Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Marcus Ericsson finished second.

It was Newgarden's second podium finish of the year and his first since winning on the streets of St. Petersburg in February. Team Penske's Will Power led the majority of the race and held a 10-second lead over the final 20 laps before a yellow flag with seven circuits to go brought the field back together.

Power then lost the lead on the restart to Dixon, who controlled the remainder of the race, leading the final 39 laps. Newgarden battled Ericsson for second place in the closing stages but ultimately settled for third. Power ended up fourth with Takuma Sato fifth.

The race was run under sunny conditions but the field had to contend with a slick racetrack and several cautions. The event, which had an announced crowd of 100,000, is the first INDYCAR race to be held in Nashville since 1989. The next race on the NTT INDYCAR SERIES schedule is the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix on the IMS road course on August 6–7.
